Lifelong Conservative

I have been a conservative for a long time!

In 1988, at the age of 15, I attended my first Iowa Presidential caucus as a junior delegate for Pat Robertson.  I was a junior delegate all the way to the state convention, where I had a chance to chat with Senator Grassley.

Shortly after that, some friends and I founded a Young Republicans club at our high school in Iowa City.  (It did not make us more popular!)  Then, in 1990, I cast my first vote for Governor Branstad.

I attended a college and law school where conservative views were unpopular.  I worked in an office that was so liberal that I was known as "the Republican" because there were no other publicly conservative people.

But despite being "behind enemy lines" throughout adulthood, my core beliefs have never wavered.

My Pledge to You

  • I will act on our conservative values even if it makes me unpopular.

  • I will speak truth to powerful people.

  • I will answer lies with facts.

  • I will stand for freedom, which leads to peace and prosperity for all.

  • I will work hard to fix the problems we face.

  • I will be frugal with your taxes and campaign donations.

  • I will attack bad ideas and failed policies — not people.
